I would love to see the ages of some of these guys. Phil Padgett's win percentage is sick. Allen Brown also from Thomasville. I know Padgett is 52 years old. Would love to see the ages of the guys ahead of him.
Joey price also has a crazy win percentage. Last edited by 2011statechamps; 11-29-2012 at 11:44 PM. |

The one who's on the fast track is West Rowan's Scott Young. He just turned 40.

I know you're a "West" guy Chris
... but if we're talking about the fast track then that would seem to go to Joey Price of WRH. Unless he just looks young (looks like he's in his 40's) then HE'S the one on the fast track. Either way, he has a ridiculous winning percentage.Oh yeah, shout out to Coach Padgett! |

Tommy Sloan at Midway has 200 plus. I don't know his actual win-loss, but he got to win 200 last year or the year before, I forget. But like I said, I don't know his precise record.

It would be interesting to add where each of the coaches has been at too. That and along with the total number of state titles. I look at a coach like Donnie Kiefer who winning percentage isn't as high as some of the others but he also has gone to numerous places and turned around dormant programs.
I think what is the most impressive about Scott Young is that before he arrived West has only made the playoffs twice in its history, never won a confernce championship and was about 150 games below .500 all time.

I also think its possible that Plymouth's Robert Cody is on the list, I'm trying to determine what year he started as the head coach. |

I'm also trying to track down Diego Hasty because I think he's possibly in the Top-25 as well but I'm not sure because I don't know all of his coaching stops by year.
If any of you can think of any other active coaches I may have missed, and by active I mean at a NCHSAA school, please let me know. |

Maybe Danny Wilkins at Asheville, I know he has like 140 something wins at Asheville but I'm not sure if was a head coach anywhere prior to taking over at Asheville.

I have Wilkins on the list, he's not close to the Top-25 unless he had a head coach tenure prior to taking over at Asheville.

Chris,
Danny Wilkins was at Erwin before he took over the Asheville job. He didn't win much there. If you can contact the guy that run gobiggreen.net he would have better info about Coach Wilkins. Also check Bobby Poss, he won 4A titles at three different schools and quite a few games as well.

I have Bobby Poss' info, but again this is just for active coaches. But thanks for the Erwin tidbit, I can update his record once I have the years he was there.

Chris, check Coach Diamont's record. I know he won his 200th game in Aug. of 2007 against Surry Central. I think the wins are closer to 240. Unless you are talking about his record as a head coach at one school. He coached at Mt. Airy in the mid 1990's.

Ken Avent Jr has over 120 wins for sure and is only in his early 40s.
