Practice Tour: Hickory heads into the Stone Age

HICKORY - I stopped by Hickory High School to see an old friend and see what progress my old boss Russell Stone has made with the Red Tornadoes since being hired back in the winter.
Immediately upon entering Frank Barger Stadium, I noticed the drastic increase in player participation numbers and a willingness by his players to buy into a new mentality that significantly raises expectations.
One of the most successful coaches in North Carolina history, Stone quickly got his point across that average isn't good enough anymore and that he expects Hickory to once again become one of the most respected programs in the state.
